"How Are You Still Awake?!"

That is a great question.

I pulled my first ever collegiate "all-nighter," and it was unlike any one I have ever experienced. I can't decide if it was the 3 cups of coffee or the 8 pieces of gum, but something was keeping me awake that I can't even understand. And to no one's surprise, there was absolutely no one in the library; it was completely deserted- except for some hobo-like man sleeping in the corner. Oh, the reason why I was there? I had to write a 9-page essay on the " rhetoric of pharmaceutical advertising." Yeah it was as bad as it sounds. But the worst part about my night wasn't the fact that I spent six hours of my life in a library writing an essay, it was the monsoon-like storm that was waiting for me outside. Yes that's right, after spending what seemed like an eternity in the Science and Engineering Library, I was greeted by wind and "fat" rain- my favorite. And then to wrap up my awesome study session, I went home to print my essay and my printer was out of ink... yes my day was that bad. (Sorry if it seems as if I'm going off on a rant here, but I just need to vent in order to clear my thoughts.)

But now let's focus on something exciting because this entry seems kind of moody: So I just got this job as a University Host, which means that I work within the campus tour department and greet prospective students before they go on their tours. So you know what that means? If you read my blogs and then come to a tour, you could actually meet me! You know that's exciting and needless to say I am very excited. I'm looking forward to this position because it is going to be a great way for me to meet some important people within THE University as well as hopefully persuade some students to choose Ohio State like I did.

So now that I realize the next few months is a crucial point for all of you perspective students out there, I have decided to focus my next blogs on aspects of Ohio State that are often overlooked, from getting involved to how many libraries do we have to types of restaurants on campus to sports and to where to live. Hopefully I will be able to clarify some concerns and make the transition process as easy as possible. If anyone has any questions that may be tearing him or her between OSU and another university, I would love to answer in a very straightforward, non-biased manner. Don't hesitate to ask :)

I hope everyone has a good day and for you lucky ones, have a great spring break!

And of course, GO BUCKS!

Time To Focus

So I got back from Florida on Sunday night and let me just say it was exactly what I needed. Even though the break was really short, I had time to see my family, some of my best friends, have a good meal, and catch up on some rays. The best part about leaving it was knowing that I was coming back in three weeks for Spring Break. Now I think I know why college students seem to go a little crazier during SB than others, especially kids at Ohio State. Imagine seeing and feeling 20 degrees and wind and then seeing my good old friend the sun and his 70 degree rays. Nothing better.

But now its time to focus back into school. I have three weeks left and then I can go crazy for spring break. Trying to focus during these next few weeks reminds me of senior-itis, which I'm sure a few of you out there can relate too. Just to throw out my list of things to do: finish these English essays that never seem to go away, find classes for next quarter, figure out my math class, find a summer job, work out for spring break, and complete a huge biology research project. My goal is to not wait until the last night to do it. But if it happens, my record is getting an hour and a half of sleep when staying up to do homework. (I strongly do not recommend it haha)

Luckily we are supposed to have a high of 50 in the next two days, and if you've been reading my blogs for a while, you know how happy I am about a little warm weather! All is well here in the O and it can only get better.

Happy Fat Tuesday and have a great day, and of course, GO BUCKS!!

V-Day or D-Day?

So last weekend was pretty depressing, you know the whole Valentine's Day thing. It's not that I'm depressed that I didn't have a date, but it was because of I didn't really have anyone to call my Valentine. The severity of it was nowhere near D-Day, but that's the only thing that rhymes with V-Day. (sorry, lack of sleep means lack of comprehensive thought) But no worries, since my floor seems to be the only one in all of SMITH that loves each other, all the guys on my floor pitched in a few bucks and we all bought roses for the girls. Since the single guys didn't have anyone to call a Valentine, we just decided to have 14 Valentines rather than 1. Of course the girls felt that they had to top us, so they laid out paper bags and markers, so we could decorate bags that they would fill with candy.(just like Valentine's Day boxes in fourth grade) And if you thought that was sweet, on Saturday night all of the singles on our floor got dressed up and went out to a fancy restaurant-- and by fancy in college terms we mean Buffalo Wild Wings. Prospective Students: You'll learn that any restaurant that requires money instead of BUCKID, is considered "going out to eat nice." Just when you all thought it couldn't get any better, I would like to inform ya'll that I'm going home tomorrow for the sunny skies of Orlando, Fl. Even though I'm really only spending one full day there, this is a much needed break: from the cold, wind, and lack of humidity.

But no worries Ohioans, I'll be back in a few days to complain about how I loved the 70 degree weather and how this high of 26 sucks. Have a good weekend and of course, GO BUCKS!!

Lazy Days

So due to my lack of sleep in the past few days, I have forgotten about blogging. I'm sorry to let all of you down-But here I am, everyone, back for your reading pleasure ( but still very tired.) You'll realize that when you get to college, what you thought was a good night of sleep turns from 8hrs into 4. The worst part is being really tired but not having any intention of sleeping even when it’s like 3 in the morning( maybe you’d rather go on Facebook or play Call of Duty for another 2 hrs) Ohh the joys of going to class and running on 3 hours of sleep. That leaves time for my favorite time of the day: nap time. Everyone on my floor makes fun of me because I average about two naps a day. I make up for the 3 hours of sleep that I get every night by taking 4 hours naps.
But enough about sleeping because I will most likely pass out here on my laptop: an even better subject to discuss is the incredible weather we've been having here during the past few days. It transitioned from highs of 30 and grey skies to 60s and bright sunshine. It's beautiful. However, yesterday we had pouring rains and 50 mph winds. In a sense it felt so homely because it was like experiencing a baby hurricane. Yes, that's right I just said that hurricanes feel homely. Haha but of course, enjoy everything while it lasts because on Saturday and Sunday it's supposed to snow again--but I'm not complaining, because I seem to be the only one in Ohio that actually enjoys seeing everything covered in snow.
As far as classes and my day-to-day schedule, life is pretty mellow. You know nothing too exciting. I wish I had some awesome story about how I saw a tiger or wrestled an alligator while I was walking past Mirror Lake, but the past week has been pretty much "bleh." Everyone is excited to shed this dreariness of Winter and get excited for the Spring, more importantly Spring Break. The talk among my friends on my floor is what to do for spring break and where to go. Ironically, everyone here is planning to go to Daytona Beach, FL and stay together, which is awesome because that means I can go visit them. The best part about this whole spring break thing is when people actually ask you what your doing. Now I can actually brag when I say, " yeah I'm just going home for spring break to… uh…. you know Florida." The common response is, "What?! You live in FL?" Oh yeah baby.

Have a good week everyone, and of course, GO BUCKS!!

Busy Week

Just like it says in the title, this is a very very busy week for me. It's midterms week again and you know what that means: study, study, study (and maybe a little bit of sleep, if I'm lucky) I took my Math exam last night and have Biology on Monday, which sadly means I cannot enjoy my weekend. :( The only thing I have to look forward to is the Florida-like weather we have this weekend: highs of 50 and 46. You have no idea how big of an impact this weather affects my mindset. Maybe I'll wear flops on Saturday? Haha I don't know, it might look ridiculous since there will most likely still be snow on the ground. Regardless, I'm going to enjoy these two days as much as possible because having to walk each day to class at 7 in the morning and getting slapped in the face by the grueling force of a 10-degree wind chill is now the norm of a typical Monday/Wednesday/Friday morning. But, I promised myself I would not complain about the weather anymore.

So I just decided that since I listen to music when I write these entries, I am going to list the last song I listened to, so that you readers can understand me better and feel more comfortable with my writing. Maybe I can even introduce you to your future favorite band?

And of course, until I talk to you again, have an awesome week! GO BUCKS!
